Length measuring instruments and tools used

Understanding length

Basic units of length

Conversion between units

Knowing conversion factors is essential for converting between different units of length. For example, to convert centimeters to meters, you divide by 100, since there are 100 centimeters in a meter.

To convert meters to millimeters you need to multiply by 1000, because there are 1000 millimeters in one meter.

Length measuring instruments

Ruler

Science experiment

In scientific experiments, it is necessary to measure length accurately to obtain reliable results, such as measuring the height of a plant or the swing length of a pendulum over time.
